Math This Week
9-1 Objective- Use counters to show 4 and 5 in two parts.
- At home idea- Display two different colors of legos. Have your child make/draw different combinations of 4 and 5. (I.e. 4 is 2 green and 2 red, 5 is 3 blue and 2 green.)

9-2 Objective- Use counters to show 6 and 7 in two parts.
- At home idea- Display two different colors of fish crackers/fruit loops. Your child will randomly select pick 6 pieces of crackers. Then he/she will sort, count, and describe the crackers “I have 6 crackers. 2 are red and 4 are green. Repeat the activity by showing different combinations for 6 and 7.
Science This Week
Children will observe and identify the three basic parts of green plants-roots, stems, and leaves.
- At home idea- If you have a plant at home, have your child draw a picture of the plants roots, stem, and leaves. Then ask him/her to locate, name, label, and describe the different parts of the plant.
Children will observe the growth of plants and identify what plants need to survive.
- At home idea- Your family can grow their own plants!! Plant some seeds (try different types) with your child in a clear plastic cups. Then watch the plant grow as YOUR CHILD takes care of the plant by making sure is given sunlight and is watered regularly. Throughout the next months discuss with your child why his/her plant is growing or not growing.
