Fire Station Field Trip

During fire safety week Kindergarten is going to the 17Th St. Fire Station on October 13Th! Send back the orange permission slip back ASAP. I still need at least two (2) more parents to join us. Please let me know if you are available.

Kindergarten Bus Safety When Tue Oct 11 12:30pm – 2pm We first watch a movie about bus safety and then go on a ride some where in town. In the middle of the mini-trip we stop and practice how to get off the bus during an emergency and how to walk safely in front of the bus. To make this trip go smoother, I need at 1 or 2 parents to join us.

TAKE-HOME BOOK

Keep the bag of books in a place in the house where you and your child can find and read them EVERY NIGHT!

If you don't want to use the bag, have you child decorate a shoe box with paint, glitter, stickers, etc. and keep his/her books inside there and put it next to his/her bed.

Math This Week

The student will identify parts of the calendar including the

dates, days of the week, the current month, and show where they are located on the calendar.

• Your child should have brought home his/her October calendar. Hang it up in the kitchen or some place very visible, so you can look at it every day and mark each day off the calendar.

The students will learn to use one-to-one correspondence (pointing to one thing at a time) and counting to compare groups and determine which has more,which as fewer, or whether the groups are the same.

The student will learn to use objects to represent and count the quantities 6 and 7.

• At home idea- On a card or post-it write the numbers from 0 to 7. Have your child take his/her snack (or other objects) and count the snack and match it to the number on the post-it or card. (Ie. #6 post-it - 6 goldfish crackers).

Letters this week The letters Uu, Mm, Ff, and Ww will be introduced this week.

• For each letter everyday, we are singing the alphabet, reading a special book about the letter of the day, and listening and identifying pictures starting with the letter of day (Ie. Tuesday will be Mm- we will find mice, mountain, man, and mud.
